Questions and Answers

Below you will find answers to many common questions about Give to Theta on #GivingTuesday.

What is #GivingTuesday?

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. Since its inaugural year in 2012, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy with events throughout the year and a growing catalog of resources.

Is this Theta Foundation's first #GivingTuesday?

It is our fourth year supporting the global movement! Theta Foundation hosted our first #GivingTuesday in 2015 to support the Give to Lead, Give to Learn endowment campaign, raising over $311,000 for the Educational Leadership Consultant and Need-Based Scholarship programs. In 2016 and 2017, $183,272 was raised for Theta's greatest needs. We look forward to another year helping Thetas become their best and supporting our sisterhood.

What is the Theta Forever Fund?

The newly named Theta Forever Fund represents the incredible unrestricted contributions from alumnae, chapters, and friends of Theta. Just as the Foundation has been there to support the ambitions, dreams, and pursuits of Thetas since 1960, we continue to facilitate the resources to provide even more opportunities to our Theta sisters. The Theta Forever Fund more clearly celebrates that mission!

Why is unrestricted giving so important?

Unrestricted support helps bridge the gap between the experiences made possible from membership dues and the realities of educational and leadership expenses. Gifts on #GivingTuesday to the Theta Forever Fund--and unrestricted donations throughout the year--are used for the Foundation's annual grant to the Fraternity, the costs that allow us to fulfill our mission, and the programs that keep Theta at the forefront of women’s leadership and learning.

Is my gift to Theta Foundation tax-deductible?

Yes! Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable and educational nonprofit organization. All donations on #GivingTuesday are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of U.S. law. You will receive a receipt for your donation via the email included on the donation form.
